Monterey, CA – For Release April 9, 2014 – The Women’s Cycling Association (WCA) is gearing up for an exciting weekend of cycling events to promote women’s cycling at the annual Sea Otter Classic, the world’s premier cycling festival to be held April 10 – 13 in Monterey, CA and at celebrity chef, Michael Chiarello’s, inaugural Bottega Gran Fondo to be held April 12 – 13 in Yountville, CA in Napa Valley.

On Saturday, April 12th the WCA, along with Primal Wear and B4-T9 cycling team will host a 20 mile open group ride starting from the Primal Wear booth #510 at the Sea Otter Classic. WCA President and 2011 US National Road Champion, Robin Farina along with pro women cyclist and WCA Board Member; Alison Tetrick, will lead the ride along with members of B4-T9. Robin and Alison will be sporting the inaugural WCA Kit for the ride, which features a bold black and white geometric pattern contrasted with the bright vivacious teal, orange and yellow-gold colors of the WCA.

After Saturday’s events at the Sea Otter Classic, WCA President, Robin Farina, will travel to Napa Valley to join celebrity Chef Michael Chiarello at his inaugural Bottega Gran Fondo as a Special Guests Ride Leader. Michael Chiarello’s Bottega Gran Fondo is the first of its kind destination cycling event where world-class culinary leaders share the stage with world-class cyclists and celebrities. The two day event celebrates the passion points for Chef Chiarello – sustainable farming, cooking, winemaking, cycling and supporting three important causes that impact the community of Napa Valley and beyond: Clinic Ole, Napa Bike and the Vine Trail. From healthcare services to bike safety to improving the roads of Napa County, these non-profit organizations are critical to residents and tourists alike. Read Robin’s Q&A here:

At 6:00pm on Saturday, the WCA, in conjunction with the Napa Valley Film Festival is presenting HALF THE ROAD, a new documentary film that explores the world of women’s professional cycling, focusing on both the love of sport and the pressing issues of inequality that modern-day female racers face in a male dominated sport. Writer/Director Kathryn Bertine will join WCA President, Robin Farina and former Pro-Cyclist and Television commentator, Bob Roll (the film’s narrator) for a post screening Q&A. Ticket Price is $15 in advance or at the door.
