Davis, CA – For Release, April 25, 2014 – The Davis Bike Club is partnering with the Women’s Cycling Association (WCA) and Half The Road to host a fundraiser for their new Women’s Development Program on Sunday, May 11th from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at the Richard Brunelle Performance Hall located at 315 W 14th Street Davis, CA. This event will help fund the program and get more women to ride bikes and encourage levels of all riders. The highly entertaining cycling personality, Bob Roll and film director, Kathryn Bertine will host the event which will feature the screening of Bertine’s Half the Road, documentary about the “Passion, Pitfalls, and Power of Women’s Professional Cycling, along with a Q & A, silent auction and reception. This will be a very special evening in conjunction with the Amgen Tour of California Women’s Races that are taking place Sunday, May 11th in Sacramento and Monday, May 12th in Folsom.

Monterey, CA – For Release April 9, 2014 – The Women’s Cycling Association (WCA) is gearing up for an exciting weekend of cycling events to promote women’s cycling at the annual Sea Otter Classic, the world’s premier cycling festival to be held April 10 – 13 in Monterey, CA and at celebrity chef, Michael Chiarello’s, inaugural Bottega Gran Fondo to be held April 12 – 13 in Yountville, CA in Napa Valley.

On Saturday, April 12th the WCA, along with Primal Wear and B4-T9 cycling team will host a 20 mile open group ride starting from the Primal Wear booth #510 at the Sea Otter Classic. WCA President and 2011 US National Road Champion, Robin Farina along with pro women cyclist and WCA Board Member; Alison Tetrick, will lead the ride along with members of B4-T9. Robin and Alison will be sporting the inaugural WCA Kit for the ride, which features a bold black and white geometric pattern contrasted with the bright vivacious teal, orange and yellow-gold colors of the WCA.

After Saturday’s events at the Sea Otter Classic, WCA President, Robin Farina, will travel to Napa Valley to join celebrity Chef Michael Chiarello at his inaugural Bottega Gran Fondo as a Special Guests Ride Leader. Michael Chiarello’s Bottega Gran Fondo is the first of its kind destination cycling event where world-class culinary leaders share the stage with world-class cyclists and celebrities. BC Superweek is pleased to announce that registration is officially open for this year’s races, the launch of a new website at www.BCSuperweek.ca and reveal a new logo for 2014.

Online registration is officially open for this year’s BC Superweek, which includes the Tour de Delta, UBC Grand Prix p/b Mahony & Sons, Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix, Giro di Burnaby p/b Appia Development and Tour de White Rock. New for 2014 is the Women’s White Spot | Delta Road Race on July 6th becoming a UCI 1.2 sanctioned event and joining the men’s race on the international cycling calendar, as well as the inclusion of the Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix event in the USA CRITS Challenge Series.

For stage racers, BC Superweek is a perfect tune-up for the Cascade Classic, which starts in Bend, Oregon on July 15th.

More than $120,000 in cash and thousands more in crowd primes is on the line in this series, with some of the biggest crowds in the sport cheering on the competitors.

Online registration is available on the new BC Superweek website, with early registration discounts in effect until June 6th. Discounts are also available to riders entered in all stages, and teams that sign up six riders for the entire BC Superweek series can register an additional three riders at no cost.

“BC Superweek is becoming one of North America’s most recognized professional road race series,” said Race Director Mark Ernsting. “Our goal is to provide spectators, athletes and sponsors with a series to be remembered. Also, we look to inspire youth across the province who have the opportunity to experience cycling at its best, and in turn, become the future stars in the sport.”
